Booking

Booking & payment.

Book online: choose your assessment and date, pay securely and receive confirmation and preparation instructions. Unsure which to choose? Compare assessments side by side or ask our team for a recommendation.

Online booking opens from two weeks ahead. If you need an earlier date, contact us and we will check availability for you.

Payment is made in full through a secure online checkout at the time of booking, in pounds sterling.

Bookings are refundable minus an administration fee up to seven days before your appointment. Within seven days they become non-refundable. Contact us as early as possible if you need to reschedule.

Health assessments are generally not covered by insurance. Further treatment may be, depending on your policy – see the results & insurance section below.

Yes. For our launch, our prices match SIMC's own prices with no added markup.

Yes. Book each person their own assessment, then contact us if you would like appointments arranged close together.

Yes. After booking you receive confirmation, your appointment details and preparation instructions.

Travel

Before you travel.

At Shanghai International Medical Center (SIMC), a leading international hospital in Pudong, Shanghai.

Most international visitors need a visa or must meet current entry requirements. Check the latest rules for your nationality with the Chinese embassy. We offer general guidance but do not arrange visas.

Not at this stage. We offer general guidance, but you arrange your own travel and stay. Shanghai is well served by hotels near the hospital.

See our Preparation Guide. After booking we also send a preparation PDF specific to your assessment, well before your visit.

Most assessments require fasting, typically 8 to 12 hours, with water usually allowed. Your personalised instructions confirm the exact requirements.

Your passport or ID, booking confirmation, a list of your medications, any previous results or scans, plus your insurance details if you have them.

Assessments range from a few hours to a full day; some – with endoscopy or extended monitoring – may span more than one day. Allow buffer time; your instructions give the detail.

Usually yes. See the Preparation Guide, check your instructions and never stop prescribed medication without advice.

Yes. See English-Speaking Support. SIMC has English-speaking clinicians and interpretation, while we support you in English throughout.

On the day

On the day.

Your confirmation gives your location at SIMC and your arrival time. Please arrive in good time.

From around three hours up to a full day, depending on the assessment. Some include procedures or monitoring that take longer.

Yes. An experienced physician is central to every assessment; your results are explained to you in person or by consultation.

Yes. SIMC has English-speaking clinicians and multi-language interpretation; in certain cases we can arrange a dedicated interpreter.

You are welcomed and guided through each part of your assessment by the hospital team.

Once your fasting tests are complete you can usually eat. The team will let you know.

Most parts are quick and non-invasive. Where procedures such as endoscopy are included, sedation is used for your comfort.

Yes. You are welcome to bring someone – for sedated procedures you should have someone accompany you afterwards.

You either meet a consultant to discuss initial findings, or are told when and how your results will be delivered.

The hospital team will advise you directly and discuss any recommended next steps.

Results

Results, aftercare & insurance.

Timing varies by assessment, but results are typically ready within 48 to 72 hours.

You receive a comprehensive report, digital and printed, in English.

You can have a consultation by phone, return to the hospital to discuss them in person, or take your report home to your own doctor.

Yes. Many clients do exactly that. Your report is designed to support continuity of care.

A reassuring result is still valuable. It gives you a baseline to measure against in future – many people repeat an assessment each year.

If something needs a closer look, SIMC offers onward consultations, diagnostics and treatment. The choice is always yours, with no obligation.

No. We arrange your assessment; we do not provide medical treatment ourselves. We can help point you in the right direction for further care at SIMC.

The assessment itself is not covered. Further treatment may be, depending entirely on your own policy. SIMC works with many international insurers, but you must confirm cover and terms directly with your insurer.

Yes. You can arrange a consultation to talk your results through. Our English-speaking team can help you take the next step.
